Our Story
My father, Richard Dashiell, started as an electrician for a well known electrical contractor in Santa Rosa, CA in the early ’60s. He moved up quickly to the general manager of their Sonoma division. In 1968, he and my uncle, Ed Garayalde, realized that they wanted to have control of their own destiny and decided to start their own company. They wanted to have a name that represented the company’s values. They decided upon Summit Electric, Inc. The dictionary defines “Summit” as “the highest attainable level of achievement.” This definitely fit their values and the direction they wanted to take their careers.
So in 1968, Summit Electric Inc. was born – and over the years my father began to turn his vision into a reality. Having some of the best electricians around, word soon spread around the North Bay about Summit’s great service. Over the next 18 years, the business grew with his dedication and leadership.
Sadly, my father died in 1986 leaving behind a well-respected company – and putting me at the helm at the young age of 22. It became my mission to show my deep gratitude to everything my father had done for my family, our customers, our employees and our community by continuing his vision.
So I put my head down and got to work. In 1990, we added the technology side of our Santa Rosa business, offering these additional services to our clients with the same level of quality as the electric side. Then in the ‘90s we added 24/7 service along with renewable residential and commercial energy solutions to our offerings.
Today, as Summit Technology Group, with over 50 years of experience behind us, we’re still delivering extraordinary customer experiences and exceptional outcomes. Without a doubt, we’re world-class experts. We certainly love what we do. And we always have fun. I think my father would be proud.

Larry
Larry's father started Summit Electric in 1968. Over the next 18 years, the business grew with his dedication and leadership while Larry watched and learned. Sadly, his father died in 1986 leaving behind a well-respected company – and putting Larry behind the helm at the young age of 22. It became Larry's mission to show his deep gratitude to everything his father had done for the family, customers, our team and our community by continuing his father's vision. In the 1990's, Larry expanded Summit Technology Group's business offering by adding technology, 24/7 service and renewables.
Kenny
Kenny joined the company in 2003 and has advanced from a hands-on technician to project manager to general manager, progressively gaining more responsibility and playing a key leadership role. He has been responsible for the company's growth, strategic vision, culture, and corporate rebranding. In 2021 Kenny joined with Larry as a Partner and is now the Vice President of STG. Kenny has been in the technology industry since graduating from college and has always enjoyed the leadership role. He is committed not only to STG, but also to his team and believes that Integrity, Dedication, hard work and gratitude are the foundation of a good team. Kenny is looking forward to the continued growth of STG for many years to come!
Scott
Scott has over 20 years of experience as an electrician. He was employed with Summit Technology Group at the young age of 17 and worked with Larry and Kenny for 11 years prior to moving his family to Idaho to start his own electric company. He had been looking for a chance to raise his family in a place to enjoy the outdoors and landed in Coeur d’Alene. Scott has always loved Idaho as he spent summers there growing up. Fast forward to 2021, and the opportunity to partner with Summit Technology Group came around. He always thought of the team at STG as family and the opportunity was a great fit. By partnering with STG, Scott is bringing more amazing products, service and professionalism to the Pacific Northwest.
