Permit Sonoma implemented new requirements for building permits. Unlike in the past, when you could defer solar plans as well as those for trusses and fire sprinklers, these must now be submitted with the building permit application. The requirements include submitting the full site plan, roof or ground layout, and single-line diagrams.

Why the change? According to Permit Sonoma, deferred submittals cause document tracking and approval issues. Without the needed information, such as structural evaluations, complications, delays, and missed inspections were not uncommon.

  • Non-qualifying systems require signed and stamped structural drawings and calculations by a California-licensed structural or civil engineer.
